AMA trucks enter Gaza with life-saving aid
Alhamdulillah, this past Friday, 12 January 2024, our hearts swelled with gratitude as we witnessed the arrival of 5 AMA trucks in Gaza.
Each of these trucks, a powerful symbol of solidarity, carries an incredible 14 tons of lifesaving aid – a total of 70 tons collectively.
The trucks were packed by a delegation from SA who travelled to Egypt in December 2023, to pack and prepare the aid sponsored by AMA’s donors, Alhamdulillah.
The trucks carry food, water, medical supplies, blankets and hygiene kits, items which are critically needed by the people of Gaza.
Marlinee Fouche, a journalist with the SABC, was aprt of the delegation, and spoke of her emotions when the trucks were ready to leave the warehouses:
“I came here to help, to spread a message of light. It is such a privilege and an honour to be a South African. Walking out here today and seeing all these trucks waiting…it’s a moment in history”
The situation worsens with each passing day, as the death toll rises, supplies dwindle and the bombardment continues relentlessly.
We continue to pray for the safety of our teams and drivers, risking their lives to take this aid to children, the elderly and all those in desperate need.
Jihan Kaisi, AMA’s team leader for the Gaza effort, had this to say:
““It’s a unique moment; after working for 10 days in the warehouse, the trucks are ready…we don’t know who’s lives will be saved with these items. The medicine, the food… maybe a child’s life will be saved, Alhamdulillah, I can’t express my feelings.”
We are filled with gratitude at the mercy of the Almighty and the generosity of our donors, that we were able to ensure these items have reached the people of Gaza.
We continue to pray for a ceasefire, for all the martyrs, the injured and the survivors.
The need is still urgent, and even as our aid is being distributed, we continue to make an urgent appeal for more donations to save more lives.
May these 70 tons of aid be a beacon of light for those who need it most, and may we continue to open our hearts for the people of Palestine, showing our solidarity and our humanity at this most devastating time for Gaza.
