Sadaqah is charity which is given voluntarily and is intended to assist the poor and needy.  Any amount can be given as Sadaqah. The benefits of giving Sadaqah are numerous in Islam, from forgiveneness of sins, to attaining closeness to Allah, to protection from hellfire.

Sadaqah Jaairyah is “ongoing charity” and refers to projects which have long term benefits, such as the construction of a waterwell.  For as long as beneficiaries receive benefit from the charity, the giver will receive a reward.
